Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness. But she is also the younger of two princesses, the one who has never done anything remarkable. She can’t see how she ever will. And he’s not the only one who seeks her. Savage enemies seething with dark magic are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could be his people’s savior. And he looks at her in a way that no man has ever looked at her before. Soon it is not just her life, but her very heart that is at stake. Most of the chosen do. (Goodreads summary)
Elisa is the chosen one.
Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king whose country is in turmoil. A king who needs the chosen one, not a failure of a princess.
Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn’t die young.
Doesn’t that just sound awesome!? I can’t even tell you how much I adored this book, you just have to read it to find out! So now…
A little bit about Rae…
I write books about teens who must do brave things. I’m originally from California, but I moved to Ohio to marry my husband, who is the smartest and therefore sexiest man I know. We live in Columbus with my teenaged stepsons, who are awesome. My books tend to contain lots of adventure, a little magic and romance, and smart girls who make (mostly) smart choices. I especially love to write about questions I don’t know the answers to.

Happy Reading!
This book sounds amazing! What intrigues me most about this book is the prophecy, magic, and love. I wonder if she will fulfill the prophecy, which man will she fall in love with, and I love books that have magic in them. Thank you for the giveaway!
Yes, the prophecy element is so cool! =)
I love fantasy books, and I haven’t read anything in the line of The Girl of Fire and Thorns yet.
Awesome, well I hope you pick it up even if you don’t win because it is awesome fantasy!
LOVED this book! What’s the most intriguing is how Elisa started out as the most annoying character ever, and by the end of the story she’d matured so much you LOVED her:)
LOL. Yes, she did need to grow up a bit, didn’t she?
I love the UK cover!
The amazing thing about this book is that we get a character who is not very inspiring to begin with. But she shows that despite having solid heroic skills and a vast breadth of knowledge, that there are many, many aspects within a person that makes them a hero in the end and not the outwardly appearance. I can’t wait to read the sequel!
Absolutely! I love what Rae does with Elisa!
The most fascinating things to me are that the author lives in Ohio and loves Star Wars 😀
Absolutely! Rae rocks!!! Love her!
I like the sound of the prophecy element. Plus it sounds like a possible arranged marriage, which is always interesting.
Oh it’s interesting all right 😉 hehehehe
I’m intrigued by all I’ve heard about the main protagonist – that she’s a kick arse heroine and I’d like to see if that’s true.
Let’s just say, she needs to grow into herself. =)
Probably that it’s signed. 😀 I’m a HUGE Fire & Thorns fan. Huge. I’ve read both books and love them to pieces!
So, jealous you’ve read Crown of Embers! I am so stoked to get it next week!
The religious aspect. As an atheist, I’m always iffy about religion in books, but this has still been recommended to me by non-religious people.
That’s awesome, Rae is not religious either. In fact she did a lot of research into faith and pulls it off well. I think you’ll enjoy it.
Sidenote: As a Christian, I’m also wary of religion in books because often people portray my faith poorly or disrespectfully. I would never portray an atheist disrespectfully in print (or otherwise), I would hope my beliefs would be respected as well. Rae portrays people of faith extremely respectfully even though she is portraying a fictional religion and she is not a person of faith herself. I love it. She is extremely talented!
Thanks for giving it a shot!
I’ve read the book and it is amazing. My favorite part is the main character and how real and strong she is! I desperately need a copy of the book for my collection so I can read it again <3
Awesome! Good luck!
Ready many great reviews on this one.
Awesome, yes it is fantastic!
I read this book at the beginning of the year and what was most intriguing to me was that she is not your typical heroine at all. She is not super beautiful and talented, but she really grows over the course of the book to become so much stronger.
My feelings exactly!
I love fantasy and I heard that there’s HUGE character development with the heroine, who at first is an annoying character. Plus it’s signed!
Definitely!
A princess proves to herself that she’s something special. That’s why this book sounds awesome to me. 😀
Good luck!
I’m not sure I’ve heard of this book before, however, it sounds like my kind of fantasy book. Plus I like the cover.
Great! Good luck!
Fantasy is my favorite genre and I have been wanting to read this one for a while. Also the title alone is just dang awesome.
I love the title too. Just so awesome! =) good luck!
I am intrigued by the concept of an “everyday” princess, and duty informing purpose informing adulthood.

great thoughts!
Story of prophesy always intriguing

totally agree
The fact that a prophecy has to be fullfilled for the young girl to be what she needs to be sounds very intriguing I love th ecover as well. thanks
Definitely! The plot is very much wrapped up in Elisa’s self-discovery. =)
Everything about this sounds good. I like the prophecy part and the being 1 of 2 princesses and not living up to expectations and marrying at 16! I need this book!!
hehe well good luck!!!
A chosen princess trying to fulfill a prophecy without dying..what’s not to love about that?!
Exactly. 😉
I love that there is magic in the story. I like that she is unsure of herself it leaves alot of possibilities for the story. Sounds like a really good book!
I cannot even tell you how awesome it is…too many squees and not enough words!
I have not read this book, but I would just based on the cover, I absolutely love the cover. Thx for giveaway.
You’re welcome! Good luck!
I have been wanting to read this for so long! I love the UK cover!
I’m intrigued by The magic in the book I’ve always loved to read anything with magic in it and the fact she seems smart and strong.
I know, the cover almost makes me want to keep it! hehe, but alas, it’s too pretty to keep to myself!
I have heard great things about this one and it sounds amazing!! Thanks for the chance to win!
You are so welcome!
I love the magic and romance!
very cool
I really prefer the UK cover. Gorgeous, and piques my interest!
Me too!
OMG. I loved this book. I absolutely LOVE this series. Thank you for holding this giveaway!
Awesome! You’re so welcome!
Oh wow, the description got me right away.
captivating isn’t it?
What intrigues me most about this book is the prophecy. How can a princess that has done nothing ever become what she can be, is supposed to be, when pulled in all different directions by those around her.
That is such a great question! 😉
I need to read more fantasy and I’ve heard great things about The Girl of Fire and Thorns. Can’t wait to finally check it out! Thanks for the giveaway!
You’re welcome! This is really quality fantasy for sure!
Everything about this book intrigues me: the fantasy setting, the idea of the main character being the “chosen one” when she herself doesn’t know why she’s been chosen and of course, I’m curious to see how these elements play out! It sounds like a great story.
Oh it is! Hope you love it!
The title is the first thing that caught my eye, but I’m very intrigued by the prospect of the dark magic after her
Both of those things hooked me as well!
I never even looked at what the book was about from looking at the US cover. But when I saw the UK cover, I was intrigued. I like the idea of dark magic. But, I really like the idea of like to love!
There is definitely something more intriguing about the UK cover for sure!
I have read some reviews and I am intrigue.
Fantastic!
I’ve read several reviews and really want to read it!
Awesome!
The book sounds wonderful and the UK cover is great
Yay! good luck! =)
I love the setting, with the secret marriage and the coming of age story. I love when characters develop as a book progresses. Thanks for the giveaway!
Then you will love this book! It’s all those things and more!
I loved the whole book, I loved how Elisa was a strong heroine who learned that she could get through almost anything. It was a great story.
Terrific thoughts! Good luck!
The secret wife part…intriguing.
Isn’t it!? That was one of the things that intrigued me as well!
Princesses and dark magic? What’s NOT to like? Thanks for the giveaway!!
I completely agree! Good luck!
I read an excerpt of the first few chapters, it looks good.
It hooks you, doesn’t it?
I love how she eventually becomes a strong girl and leader. The fantasy world element is also richly detailed!
I agree completely! Love it!
This book sounds very interesting. I love reading about fantasy. Thanks for the giveaway.
You’re welcome! Good luck! =)
I like that the main character is a woman, and that fact doesn’t seem to be an issue (according to the book blurb). I also like the idea of The Chosen being hunted for use by various people who think they are in the right. This could make for some interesting turmoil.
Awesome comment! Love your thoughts
I think it’s the idea that each of us has greatness in them no matter how insignificant we may think we are. I love that idea. But the cover is also very intriguing.
I love the premise of this book. It’s like taking the ordinary and raising it to extraordinary.
I have been told so many awesome things about this book and read so many good reviews that I’ve got to read it!
I just loved the Spanish influences in the setting and plot of Girl of Fire and Thorns. It was a beautiful high fantasy setting.
I haven’t read much about this book but I’ve heard it’s really good!
The cover really caught my attention but the blurb sealed it. I have wanted to read this book since I first seen it. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love that it’s about a princess. It sounds pretty fast-paced, I’m excited to read it!
*wipes sweat off brow* Phew! I’m gonna have to stop responding to each comment here…y’all are wearing me out with your awesomeness! =) You ROCK!
I like that the main character doesn’t feel very special at the beginning but has to find some inner strength.
The most intriguing… A book I haven’t read. No but I like the strong female character becuase she seems normal but then finds she isn’t.
I love how the main character, Elisa, will have to believe in herself and work to become the chosen one. The UK cover looks more dramatic, but the US cover looks prettier.
Thanks,
Leanne
I’ve never read this book, but it sounds amazing. The description definitely caught my attention. I need to read this book now. Thank you very much for the giveaway!
It sounds like a really good story
The ending is what really has me interested. “Most of the chosen do”? I mean, how do they die? Why do they die? Will she die? How? There are just so many mysteries involved with just that statement. Then add it into the rest of the summary and you have a giant tease for readers everywhere!
