Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
A war to the death. Empress Adele has launched a grand crusade against the vampire clans of the north. Prince Gareth, the vampire lord of Scotland, serves the Equatorian cause, fighting in the bloody trenches of France in his guise as the dashing Greyfriar. But the human armies are pinned down, battered by harsh weather and merciless attacks from vampire packs. To even the odds, Adele unleashes the power of her geomancy, a fearsome weapon capable of slaughtering vampires in vast numbers. However, the power she expends threatens her own life even as she questions the morality of such a weapon. As the war turns ever bloodier and Adele is threatened by betrayal, Gareth faces a terrible choice. Their only hope is a desperate strike against the lord of the vampire clans—Gareth’s brother, Cesare. It is a gamble that could win the war or signal the final days of the Greyfriar. The Vampire Empire trilogy rushes to a heart-wrenching conclusion of honor and love, hatred and vengeance, sacrifice and loss.
“’Yes?’ She asked brandishing the cutlass. ‘Was there more to the bargain?’
‘I have to bring a piece of him to her.’
‘A piece of him? A piece of my brother? How large a piece will satisfy Flay?’
‘I imagine a hand will do.’
“‘How fortunate he has two.’”

[From the back of the ARC] Varen Nethers is trapped in a perilous dream world — a treacherous and desolate realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life. Isobel Lanley, plagued by strange visions and haunted by the nightmares of Varen’s creation, is the only one who can save him. Only the Poe Toaster holds the key to the way between worlds. But even greater dangers lie ahead for Isobel. An ancient evil, draped in veils of white, is watching, challenging her for Varen’s affections. When Isobel finally finds Varen, he is no longer the quiet and brooding boy who once captivated her, but a dark force, powerful and malevolent.
Isobel knows that her only hope lies within a Baltimore cemetery. There, in the early morning hours of Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday, a mysterious stranger known as the “Poe Toaster” will make his annual homage at the legendary poet’s grave.
I love this scene because I have two younger brothers that would have definitely reacted like this! ;o)
“‘Don’t. Even. Think about –‘
Isobel wrapped her arms around him, causing his DS to tumble out of his hands and onto the floor with a thump.
‘Watch out!’ he shouted. He yanked off his headphones. ‘Why are you touching me?’
He tried shoving her off, but Isobel remained attached long enough to plant a kiss on the side of his head.
‘Sick!’ he yelled, and pushed her away. ‘Get off!“

After her boyfriend is killed in a car accident, high school student Wren Darby uses her hidden powers to bring him back from the dead, never imagining the consequences that will result from her decision.
“What I couldn’t understand was what could be bad about something like that, something that was pure beauty, and why Mom never wanted to talk about it.

Hmm, intriguing snippets…now I want to know more!
Here’s MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
Oh wow, all three a great in their own right! I love the nonchalance about cutting of a brother’s hand and yes, that’s so how a brother would respond. And in the third one I like how it goes from beauty to smashing lightbulbs! Thanks for sharing
