Welcome to the first annual INDIEpendence Day Blog Fest!
sponsored by The Indelibles
The purpose of this blog fest is to highlight exceptional indie authors and their work. To quote the Indelibles directly,
” The 25 Indelible authors all believe that amazing works of fiction can be found in indie novels. By highlighting and bringing greater awareness to quality indie books, people find great books to read, indie authors get support, and we continue to change hearts and minds about the gems that can be found among self-published and small-press novels.”
I agree! And so, today I’ve decided to feature Rachel Morgan! Rachel Morgan is the author of the Creepy Hollow series of novelettes* which feature kick-butt, faerie guardian-in-training, Violet Fairdale. I’m not usually a fan of The Fair Folk; however, in the case of Creepy Hollow, I make an exception. I love the world Rachel built, I love Violet, I love Nate, and I love the smart, wonderful dialogue, I love the story and the twists and turns it’s taken thus far. If you like well-written stories full of action, adventure, mystery, magic and of course, romance, then you need to check these books out!
*And what is a novelette you ask? Well, it’s longer than a short story and shorter than a novella. It’s about 60 pages long, and readable in an hour. One of the reason Rachel’s writing impresses me so much is the amount of plot and development she’s able to fit in that page length without it seeming too rushed or glossed over. But I digress. A link to my review of Guardian is available below.
1. Receive assignment. Protecting humans from dangerous magical creatures is all in a day’s work for a faerie training to be a guardian. Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale knows this better than anyone—she’s about to become the best guardian the Guild has seen in years. That is, until one of her assignments—a human boy who shouldn’t even be able to see her—follows her into the fae realm. Now she’s broken Guild Law, a crime that could lead to her expulsion. The last thing Vi wants to do is spend any more time with the boy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget everything he’s discovered of the fae realm. Easy, right? But Nate and Vi are about to land themselves in even bigger trouble—and it’ll take all Vi’s training to get them out alive.
2. Save a life.
3. Sleep.
4. Repeat.
An excerpt…
A little bit about Rachel…
Rachel Morgan was born in South Africa and spent a large portion of her childhood living in a fantasy land of her own making. These days, in between teaching mathematics to high school children, she writes fiction for young adults.

Thank you so, so much for featuring my series!
probably not… they can be very manipulative!
I love the Creepy Hollow series so far, and I love the hints of what Nate and Ryn look like! Can’t wait to read the next one!
Yes, I would want to be a Fae, but probably a rebel Fae who didn’t have to report to a court. Definitely wouldn’t mind the long life and the special powers.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Leanne
I would want to be a fae only if I could change how they are. Tore923@aol.com
i would want to be a fae, but i wouldn’t want to be one of the sneaky ones causing trouble, i’d want to be one of the nicer ones : )
I don’t think I would. From most of what I’ve read, it’s not fun to be one of the fae.
Maybe for a day…
I probably wouldn’t want to be. It doesn’t seem that great to be one
Sure, it sounds like fun.
Yeah I would, I would be an awesome fae!!! Not sure what kind but I think it would be fun!
YES!!!
I would love to be a Fae and experience the world through another perspective.
I’m not sure, I’ve yet to read a fae book, and I don’t want to jump to conclusions for the pros and cons >.<
Hmmm..not sure. The powers are really great and the experience would be cool, but the evil stuff turns me off!
Thanks for the giveaway!
This certainly looks a fabulous blog and these books look thrilling. Keep up the work supporting indie authors!
I think I would. It definitly be exciting.
I would want to be fae, but I’d probably rebel a couple of times when necessary. Thank you for the giveaway.
Now that I’ve seen what Ryn looks like, totally forgive him for being a jerk!
This made me laugh. Yes, Ryn intrigues me greatly, and now he intrigues me even more 😉
Hahaha! That made me laugh too! He is rather yummy 😉
I would.. just to know how it feels to be one! lol!
Yes I would
Do I get to meet Puck? It would depend on circumstances LOL my fave Fae character so far but now that I have discovered your book it’s going on my list!
Thanks for the giveaway!

Maybe. Sometimes it looks like fun and others like here it is a lot of work to hide yourself and keep secrets.
Why the heck not? I think it could be fun.
I think it would be fun to be fae. Most stories have them as great warriors also. I wouldn’t want to be an evil one though.
Yes I would. Thank you for the Giveaway!!!
It’s a great read. Great writing. Well done Rachel. You are an inspiration.
