Welcome to DAY EIGHT of
Brightest Kind of Darkness was a book that when I picked it up, I had no idea what to expect. To be honest, initially, I might’ve picked it up for it’s cover alone.
I know, I know…
But it was just so shiny…
It didn’t take me long to realize that it is a book that’s shiny on the inside too. The story is fantastic, mysterious, original, but the characters and the relationships are what really sucked me into this novel. I love Nara, and I LOVE Ethan… and I love them together. Their relationship is well… it feels very genuine compared to many YA relationships and while there is drama surrounding these two characters, refreshingly it’s not a lot of internal drama. They’re real with each other… and because of this Ethan & Nara are one of my favorite couples ever.
I guess it’s no surprise then that Ethan’s one of my favorite book boys ever too. He’s just so… perfect. So when I asked Patrice if she’d be willing to do a scene from Ethan’s POV, and she agreed, I think I just about died. There was jumping and dancing involved anyway.
So here you are… Ethan…
Nara Collins is an average sixteen-year-old, with one exception: every night she dreams the events of the following day. Due to an incident in her past, Nara avoids using her special gift to change fate…until she dreams a future she can’t ignore. After Nara prevents a bombing at Blue Ridge High, her ability to see the future starts to fade, while people at school are suddenly being injured at an unusually high rate. Grappling with her diminishing powers and the need to prevent another disaster, Nara meets Ethan Harris, a mysterious loner who seems to understand her better than anyone. Ethan and Nara forge an irresistible connection, but as their relationship heats up, so do her questions about his dark past.
A little bit about Patrice…
Born and raised in the Southeast, award-winning author Patrice Michelle gave up her financial calculator for a keyboard and never looked back. Thanks to an open-minded family who taught her that life isn’t as black and white as we’re conditioned to believe, she pens her novels with the belief that various shades of gray are a lot more interesting. She’s a natural with a point-and-shoot camera, likes to fiddle with graphic design and, to the relief of her family, strums her guitar to an audience of one.
As Patrice Michelle, she writes dark, sexy, action-packed paranormal and contemporary romances.
As P.T. Michelle, she write dark paranormal YA books. The second BRIGHTEST KIND OF DARKNESS book, Lucid, releases July 2012.

Happy Reading!

I believe in fate to a degree but nothing is definite. There is always hope and circumstances can be changed!
Yes I do! But sometimes I think fate is ultimately trying to ruin my life 😛
Yes, I do believe in fate!
Yes I believe in Fate!
I believe that we can slightly change certain things about fate ( our fate, others fate ) kind of like nara does. Maybe you shouldn’t all together alter someones fate but anything we do will affect others lives/fate.
Love loveee this book. Ooo and of course Ethans POV!
Thanks Dani & Patrice!
Oh my goodness I forgot just how much I love Ethan! So fun to see his perspective.
Fate? In this series I do!! And also in “real life” to a certain degree :o)
Yes I do
Absolutely! But I also think you can change fate.
I believe in Fate as one force in the world, as free will as a second. It is when and if those two forces collide that life gets interesting; as we saw in Brightest Kind of Darkness.
I believe in Fate to an extent. I believe in free will and that what ever choices we make will lead to different Fates.
Yes, I believe in Fate, because otherwise I think there would be only chaos in the world.
Yes, I believe in fate….however I believe fate can be changed by our choices. Our lives are like twisted branches of circumstances and choices that grow our fate.
I believe in God more than I believe in fate. It’s not the same thing for me.
Thanks for the giveaway, and congrats!!!
I love reading these scenes from the other characters POV!!!
And, yes I do believe in fate, but I believe we control which was it can go by the decisions we make.
Like the other answers, I believe in fate but I also believe that fate is influenced by the different, small choices we make each and every day.
I think fate is real but can be changed by the decisions we make! Thanks for this amazing giveaway – I would love to win!
I believe in fate… I also believe that you can mess it up when fate is trying to give you something and you don’t open your eyes to it!
As i read this i seriously have this little girly voice in my head going heheheheehehe the entire time. I love Ethan.
No, not really. I think you make your own fate.
Thanks,
Leanne
I do believe in fate to a degree. I believe more in our own choices that effects our life.
Yes I believe in fate but I also believe some of our choices have a say in it also. Tore923@aol.com
I do believe in fate. It’s sort of confusing when you think about it though, with free will mixed in. Thanks for the giveaway – this book has been on my wishlist forever!!
Oh yes, I definately believe in Fate.
I forgot my email earlier!

Yes I DO Believe In Fate.

I do. I think everything that happens has already been planned out to happen that way.
I, without a doubt, believe in Fate.
Yes I do believe in fate, but I also believe you can change it with the choices you make.
yes, but faith could only take you there ..and once you’re there..it’s up to you to make it happen..:)
I believe in Fate for the big things, but not for everything. I think some of our small actions are pre-ordained, or at least heavily guided, but that we still have actions that are unrelated to the larger scheme set in motion.
Yes, I do.
Yes, I do.
Im not really sure. I like the idea that i might be planned for something great, but I also dont like the idea of having my life planned. It leads me to think have no control of my life which is confronting and scary at the same time.
No, I do not.
I believe in fate to a certain extent. It’s just there are so many factors to everything that happens in life, so I don’t know.
Not preordained fate, just the future we make for ourselves by our actions.
Absolutely, beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Yes I do! Thanks for the chance to win!
I think fate is relative…
I believe more in destiny than in fate.
You, the world, the people you know, they are always in motion.
All affecting the concept of fate.
Thanks for the chance to win 😀
I love this book and am so excited for Lucid!
i have no idea if i believe in fate, actually. i have never really sat down and thought about it. I like to think that everything isn’t all planned out ahead of time. Well. *sigh* no. no, i do not. but thanks for the giveaway and it sounds AWESOME.
Oh yes I do 😉
Yes I do!
Yes I do.
I do
I definitely believe in fate!
Sure I believe in fate.
i do believe in fate….
Yes, I do believe in fate!
Yes, I do believe in fate, to a certain degree!
I sure do, I believe it was fate that brought me to my husband
Yes. Whether we follow fates road or we make our own, i believe that where were lead, we supposed to be there. Theres always a reason!
(I already have a brightest kind of darkness)
I do believe in fate to a point. It’s what you do with it that depends on the outcome.
I do believe Fate is real, and powerful. But I don’t think it is all-knowing and all powerful. We can still shape our own paths.
No, I don’t believe in fate. It’s all a matter of choices, yours and others.
Sometimes. It’s a win-lose situation for me. I do believe in fate, but sometimes I do not. I feel we all have the ability to change our destinies if we so choose it.
Yes, I believe that maybe Fate does play a roll in life.
But we also have the ability to make our own choices.
*giggles*
Ethan
I love, love BKOD!!!

I don’t really believe in fate.
Yes
I do to a certain extent. I don’t think it is black and white though.
Definitely! Sometimes you can only plan for something but ultimately fate decides.
I believe in fate to an extent.
I do believe in Fate. Everything happens for a reason.
I don’t believe in fate – I believe in free will but that God knows what we will choose. He doesn’t control our choices, simply knows which choices we will make.
i don’t really believe in fate, but there are times i wish it did exist just so things would happen without having to worry that what i’m doing could really effect things and make things worse.
Yes but freewill can change it
Thanks for the giveaway! <3
Absolutely! There is a path that we are all suppose to take and fate leads us there.
I’m not really sure.
There are times when I do and times when I don’t. That sounds like a copout, but really, I don’t know.
I do believe in fate. Our choices be it right or wrong at the time will lead us to our destined place in the end.
Nope! I believe that everything is pretty much random. Chaos! You make your own fate.
I believe more in free will than fate.
I believe to a certain extent; I think we can play a role in our own fate too.
Thanks for the giveaway! =)
Yes, I do believe in fate, that’s how I met my hubs.
So… I started reading this around 10:30p last night, finished at 1:30a, and then couldn’t wait to read this Ethan POV!
Made me love feathers even more
