Welcome to DAY SIX of
I will be forever grateful for taking a chance on this “You may also like…” book. Last May, I picked up Filter by Gwenn Wright on a whim, and completely fell in love with her darkly romantic, deliciously gothic, eerily mysterious, and slightly “other” family saga. It follows the story of three different families, their history, their well-kept secrets and the skeletons hiding in their closets. One of the things I love most about the storytelling style of the von Strassenberg Saga is that the narrative jumps back and forth every chapter between the events of the past and the present as Gwenn weaves the mystery behind the three families and how they are all intertwined. It’s simply fantastic, and elegantly done and the switching between eras is used wonderfully to steadily increase the suspense. Gwenn is a “no holds barred” kind of writer, so you never know just where she might take her characters… or what she might do to them. <dun dun dun> Makes for a very exciting read, and it injects the story with a bit of realism too, I think. <wink>
But, in any case, here’s the blurb of Filter, the first book in The von Strassenberg Saga….
The von Strassenbergs’ saga begins in 1877, when Katherine Demure, brimming over with discontentment, is swept into the arms of the mysterious Viktor von Strassenberg who is newly arrived from Europe with dark rumors preceding him. Hoping to find love and adventure, she instead becomes the centerpiece of a mystery that will take generations to unravel. The responsibility falls into the hands of Maria Josepha Raquel Demure von Strassenberg Evans, her granddaughter, five times removed, who has no inkling as to the origins of her strange name or the reason she has no connection to her family. All that changes and begins to unravel when she makes the mistake of being found.
So today we have a bit of a sneak peek at Book Three in the von Strassenberg Saga, which is awesomely entitled, Lipstick & Bolsheviks (releasing Winter 2012)! Woohoo! So here you go… in which our heroine, Raquel (a.k.a. Rocky), meets the lovely Abbie for the first time…
A little bit about Gwenn…

If I really cared about someone then I would do everything I could to find them, and if breaking into their apartment would help me find out what happened to them then so be it, I would do it.
In a heartbeat!
Of course! If you might have the power to save them, than why even hesitate? Thanks for the giveaway!
I would definitely do the same thing! B&E charge be damned.
