So this past Friday, Heather and I left the kiddos with the husbands, threw our suitcases in the car, cranked the tunes and headed south to Georgia to meet Jennifer, Pepe & Sztella on the Daemon Invasion Book Tour!
It was a complete and total blast. One of the best roadtrips I’ve ever been on. I don’t think Heather and I have gotten to hang out that much since rooming in college and so it was fun getting some girl time — listening to everything from Adele to The Monkees and talking about everything from Magnus Bane to yelling at “Myrtle” (the overly-helpful GPS) to “what the heck ever happened to Weezer?” So. Much. Fun.
We arrived at the bookstore rather early, and got to meet a ton of bloggers and peeps I’ve only met online — Heather from SupaGurl Books, Angela from Reading Angel, Tess from My Pathway to Books, author Heather White, Brittni from Britt’s Kick-Butt Blog, Mariam (one of the Starbooks girls), and author Shelli Wells (a.k.a. – S.R. Johannes)! You girls are absolutely fantastic, and it was so fun to finally meet you for real and to get to chat! The book store itself, FoxTale Book Shoppe, is really neat, and the owners/staff extremely helpful, friendly and good humored. I’m not sure they were expecting such a big crowd to show up for this event, but they were extremely kind about our fangirly gushing and loitering while we waited for the Daemon Invasion crew to arrive. I absolutely LOVED the way the bookstore is decorated — eclectic, with hammered tin, antiques, gorgeous crown molding, funky lights and chandeliers, and their checkout counter is a re-purposed door. So very cool!
And then suddenly it was 3pm, and Jennifer, Pepe & Sztella arrived…
Pepe & Sztella are supremely adorable, and Jennifer’s really fun… and funny. They started off with a Q&A in which we learned that Pepe’s favorite movie is “Meet Joe Black,” while Sztella prefers Hannibal Lector, that Sztella has great taste in shoes, and that Pepe is currently reading Obsidian. We also learned that there will be MORE Daemon POVs in the upcoming release of Onyx, that of all the fight scenes Jennifer has to write in all her series that the battles between the Arum and Luxen are the most challenging to write, and that at least one more Lux novella will be released (probably in between books 4 &5).
Heather and I also got to meet Kara, the artist who created this fabulous piece of fan art, that you may recognize?
We got to look through her portfolio, and seriously, it’s like she caught a glimpse inside my mind and then translated my imaginings straight to paper. Every single fan art piece she had done, from books I’ve read, portrayed exactly how I imagined those characters to be. Check her out on deviantART here.
We also got to go to dinner with everyone after the signing, which I’ve never done at a signing before. It was wonderful to just get some time to sit and chat with everyone before we had to go our separate ways.
And… that’s just a super quick run down of our weekend with Daemon Invasion!
Thanks for stopping by!
What a great glimpse of our trip! :). Beautifully done, Dani.

Ha! Thank you! And he is super adorable in person… though after 30 minutes in a room full of Pepe/Daemon-lovesick women and their 50 million camera phones, he began to have the trapped look of a zoo animal. Poor guy. LOL
