Burn Bright by Marianne de Pierres. Fascinating story, great female protagonist, gorgeously dark world and a cover that makes quite the memorable impression. Unfortunately, at the moment, it’s published by Random House Australia only, with no immediate plans of releasing it elsewhere, which makes it a little difficult to get your hands on it if you’re in the States. Well, I’ve got a copy to share, and I thought I’d share it with a few other US-based book bloggers!
So what’s it about?
Into a world of wild secrets and deadly pleasures comes a girl whose innocence may be her greatest strength.
In Ixion music and party are our only beliefs. Darkness is our comfort. We have few rules but they are absolute . . .
Retra doesn’t want to go to Ixion, the island of ever-night, ever-youth and never-sleep. Retra is a Seal – sealed minds, sealed community. She doesn’t crave parties and pleasure, experience and freedom.
But her brother Joel left for Ixion two years ago, and Retra is determined to find him. Braving the intense pain of her obedience strip to escape the only home she’s ever known, Retra stows away on the barge that will take her to her brother.
When she can’t find Joel, Retra finds herself drawn deeper into the intoxicating world of Ixion. Come to me, whispers a voice in her head. Who are the Ripers, the mysterious guardians of Ixion? What are the Night Creatures Retra can see in the shadows? And what happens to those who grow too old for Ixion?
Retra will find that Ixion has its pleasures, but its secrets are deadly. Will friendship, and the creation of an eternal bond with a Riper, be enough to save her from the darkness?
Listen well, baby bats. Burn bright, but do not stray from the paths. Remember, when you live in a place of darkness you also live with creatures of the dark.
My review of BURN BRIGHT can be found HERE.
And how would this work, do you ask?
Well… here’s some guidelines I’ve come up with.
-
I’m looking for about 8-10 participants. If I get more who are interested, I’ll pick randomly from those who would like to participate. (sign-ups will be open ’til Thursday night)
-
You have to be a book blogger who lives in the US. Blog size doesn’t matter, but I’d prefer active bloggers who post at least ONE review a week.
-
You get seven days to read the book. (i.e. You receive the book on a Monday, you ship it the following Monday.)
-
When you mail, you must use delivery confirmation, and you must email me with the DC# the day you mail it. (dani AT refractedlightreviews DOT com)
-
You do not have to review the book, though I hope you do. As an incentive to review the book, all participants who review the book, will be entered for the chance to win the copy at the end of the tour. Once I get an idea of the number of people who will be participating, I’ll give y’all the end-all date you must have your review posted by to be eligible for the giveaway.

Be nice to the book, and don’t steal. It’s not cool. The stealing thing, I mean. The being nice to the book thing is way cool. Do unto others and all that…
-
Fill out the form below, if you think you can deal with what’s stated above! And then leave a blog comment with your name and state. Thanks!

Happy Reading!

Not signing up because I wouldn’t dare to commit to something like this because commitments equal stress which for me usually equals procrastination. However it looks like an interesting read and I think it’s a great idea that you’re bringing a book not currently available over here on tour in the US. Very cool.
LOL… totally understand! Thanks for stopping in Jenn, sign ups will be open ’til Thursday if you change your mind
Thanks for doing this Danni. I’ll let people know.
You’re so welcome, and thank you! It’s actually more of a selfish move than anything else… I’d love if enough interest were generated to see them published over here in the States 😉
Just signed up, the book looks really interesting! (I’m from NH.)
Welcome! Thanks for signing up Charlotte!
Thank you for organizing tour for books not available here! I am excited to read something I would not normally get the chance too.

Yay! Thanks for signing up Suz!
You’re welcome, I’m excited to get the chance to read this book. I’ve been incredibly curious about it and found it was hard to get my hands on a copy of it being from the US. lol. I do have a question though, is there going to be a tour banner that I can use for the book and to advertise the blog tour itself?
Definitely interested in this one as well! It has been on my Goodreads TBR for a while. I get Blood Song soon and I am excited. Would love to be a part of this tour as well! Thanks again so much for the offer!
Jaime

Hey Dani! Can’t wait to finally get to read Burn Bright. Life has gotten a lot calmer since the first time I had the book. Hopefully it will stay this way so I can enjoy Burn Bright. Thanks again for tagging me to the back of the tour.
