“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine.
My pick for this week is:
Wander Dust
by Michelle Warren
Expected publication: Fall 2011
Website: www.wanderdusttrilogy.com
Goodreads blurb:
Ever since her sixteenth birthday, strange things keep happening to Seraphina Parrish.
The Lady in Black… burns Sera’s memories.
Unexplainable Premonitions… catapult her to other cities.
The Grungy Gang… wants to kill her.
And a beautiful, mysterious boy… stalks her.
But when Sera moves to Chicago and her aunt reveals their family connection to a centuries old, secret society, she is immediately thrust into an unbelievable fantasy world, leading her on a quest to unravel the mysteries that plague her. In the end, their meanings crash into an epic struggle of loyalty and betrayal, and she’ll be forced to choose between the boy who has stolen her heart and the thing she desires most.
Wander Dust is the breathtaking fantasy that will catapult you through a story of time and love.
I ran across this book a few days ago on Facebook, and I’m so glad I did! The cover is gorgeous and the blurb is intriguing and I can’t wait to read it. A side note, I believe the author, Michelle Warren, is a graphic designer and she really has created a beautiful, eye-catching cover and strong, professional internet presence. Just check out her website link above. When it comes to Indie authors competing against all the resources the big houses offer their authors, I really believe having those two things are incredibly important and will make all the difference when it comes to readers choosing one Indie novel over another. The quality of writing IS of paramount importance, but image is also everything, and readers need an enticing lure. <ok…stepping down off of my soapbox>
So…..what reads are you looking forward to?
Dani
