Thanks for the giveaway…scariest experience…hmmm, when i was volunteering at my little brothers school fair, at like 11 at night (i was helping cleaning up) one of my friends just grabs me and i cant see who and I flip out! I was about to have an heart attack…only to find out they were tricking me 😛
p.s. my twitter name is @heyitsfishy forgot to put that on my entry
That would give me an almost-heart attack too!
I saw a Ghost at my middle school. It was behind a glass door. A black shadow man with a tall cowboy hat. I ran to the other side of the hall way looked behind the door and nothing was there.
Oooo…..freaky!
I haven’t had any spooky experiences, but I did have a really scary and vivid zombie dream last night.
Ugh…dreams like that just give the day a really weird start. So, did you survive? Or are you one of those most likely to be eaten in the event of a zombiepocalypse? I would be that last option. lol
When I was little I thought I saw the shadow of a face above my bed every single night. When I moved to my other house I thought I wouldn’t see it, but it was still there. Now that I have moved to my new house I haven’t seen it. I was probably just a crazy kid but it still freaked me out.
ok…that is creepy.
Mmmmm…. I used a ouija board once and it told me to turn on the Disney channel because Boy Meets World was on and it wanted to watch – AND IT WAS! And then I’d get on it all the time and it became creepier and creepier until I finally gave it away. 😉
That’s weird, weird, weird. What was the creepiest thing it told you?
When I was little (utmost 6)I lived in a house where the kitchen was on the end of the house. We had to go through a backyard to get to it. When, at night, I got thirsty and went to get a glass of water, I’d be spooked out by a shadow up on the wall of the backyard. It always scared me so much that I turned back half-way and went to sleep thirsty. Later, I learned that it was only the shadow of a rotating exhaust fan.
So glad to know it was nothing super spooky!
Well, my son’s toys used to turn themselves on without anyone near them and wouldn’t shut off unless you took the batteries out, there could be no kids in the house and you could hear children’s laughter from another room (at the time, ours were the only kids who lived in the neighborhood), and when my eldest was just a toddler, the entire family was sitting in the living room and his bedroom door swung open while there was no one in there, and moments later my son looked up, giggled, and offered to share his cookie with empty space.
Not to mention the sound of a music box playing at times, but we’ve never found the source…
And people wonder why I sleep with the lights on.
That is SO creepy Jess. Do you still live in that house? And the music box… [shiver]. I would definitely be sleeping with the lights on!
When i was a kid i would always get scared that some serial killer would stand inftont of me holding a knife, that’s why i would always cover myself up with a blanket up to the top of my head, once i woke up and found someone and SCREAMED, turned out it was only my sister 😛
LOL… glad it was only your sister, but I’m sure that it made your heart stop for a second there.
A few months ago my brother decided it would be funny to done his halloween mask, which makes him look like a vantriloquist dummy, and sneak up on me. That thing can creep me out just sitting on the table, so having him do that made me jump and scream pretty loud.
I’ve always been scared of those dummies too. I mean, they are seriously creepy looking. I would’ve been so angry with my brother… lol
well, when I was 11, my aunt, my sister, and I were happily watching the TV in our living room, suddenly the shower in our bathroom turned on without anyone around it. It really freaked me out and we were totally silent for a few minutes before my aunt went inside the bathroom and turned it off. spell FREAKYYYYY!
Ummm… definitely FREAKY!
When I was a senior in high school I lived in the basement of the house my family had just moved into. I was going to sleep and my dog (a toy poodle, frightening I know) sat up and started barking at the corner of the room. I tried everything to get him to lay down but he kept staring and barking at the corner. So I brought him up stairs and got the the golden retriever. I settled her at the end of my bed and pulled up the covers and then… she sat up and started barking at the same corner of the room! Needless to say I jumped out of the bed and slept upstairs in the guest room for a week. FREAKY!
Thanks for the giveaway! Happy Halloween!
Brit
Creepy and freaky!
I remember going trick or treating and being outside a house and someone peeking through a gap at the curtains watching us and it creeped me out
That’s definitely unsettling
I have had a few scary moments. One of them was when my mom and I lived in my Grandpa’s old house. My room used to be my mom’s old room growing up. One night I woke up and as my eyes were adjusting, I saw a large black figure of a man wearing a suit jacket and fedora sitting in my chair. He proceeded to walk by my bed while staring at me, then stand in the doorway and look into my mom’s room. I was so freaked out. Come to find out my mom and aunt used to see him too when they were little.
Did you guys ever have any idea of who he was or the history of the house before your grandpa owned it? Was the man ever malicious? So scary!
No, we have never figured it out. My grandpa bought the house after it was built, so no one lived there first. We called him “Dick Tracy!” The only thing we could come up with was that either he was attached to something in the house or maybe the housing complex was built on an old burial ground!
I feel so boring that I don’t have a huge scary story to tell. LOL Perhaps for me it would be on the night I was late to meeting friends when we were having a party in the woods. I had forgotten my flashlight and had to enter the woods by myself, and it was quite a ways to walk! I was pretty scared! It took forever with me standing at the path entrance before I gained the courage to go in. lol
I would be scared to walk in the woods alone at night too!
Once, I was playing this game where you flip this coin and ask “a ghost” yes/no questions, so the coin will answer with Heads or Tails. My friend was riding a bike while I was playing, and I asked if he’d fall down. The coin said Yes, and a few mins later the kid fell and nearly broke his leg… Yeah, pretty frickin’ creepy…
Thanks a lot for the giveaway, and for makiing it international!
Juan Roca,
Geeks & Books
Wow! Hope your friend was ok! That is pretty freaky.
As a kid trick or treating, my younger brother almost got his bag of candy stolen by some punk high school kids. I saved the day by bring my salor mouth and swinging my own bag of candy at the punks. Needles to say it worked. Thanks for the giveaway!
Aww…you’re a sweet sister for coming to your lil bro’s rescue!
I’ve heard whispering in my ear in bed at night while my husband is sleeping. The lamp on my husbands side of the bed has turned on by itself. My iPod turned on by itself on night. I also sometimes see shadows move out of the corner of my eye.
[shiver]… that’s creepy. Can you tell what the whispers are saying, or is it unintelligible?
Oh it’s a difficult question, I don”t have a creepy situation. Maybe when I was alone in my house at night and when I’ve heard some very weird noises on the rooh ! It was very creepy.
Yikes. When I hear stuff like that, my already over-active imagination goes into automatic overdrive and I manage to psych myself out pretty good. lol
In high school I was walking through a graveyard one summer night with my best friend. It was pitch black and we couldn’t see anything. We happened to walk across a fresh grave and could feel the dirt in our sandals. It scared the crap out of us and we ran out of there screaming at the top of our lungs!
Yikes… I’d also be moving out of there pretty fast myself.
My most recent creepy experience was when a friend linked me a documentary on ‘the slender man’ (think the creepy monsters you see in things like Supernatural, Buffy or The X Files). A few days later I was hanging up my laundry to dry in my attic and this chill just went down my spine and something in me just immediately screamed that the slender man was there in the room with me before my rational mind could kick in and tell me that’s not possible! It was a pretty powerful experience, even though I don’t believe in this thing.
Yikes! Tried googling him, but it looks like the wikipedia page has been removed. It also sound like he’s a recent creation of somebody on the something awful forum… and has quickly grown to fame as a grassroots myth. Very interesting, and your experience does sound pretty powerful!
Wow I spent some time reading the comments and I now I need to turn the lights on in my room…
My most creepy moment was when I was about 7 or 8 I had my neighbor’s son at my house and we were playing. There was a big car toy on the other side of the room and at some point it started to move on it’s own… It stopped just as fast as it started but it was enough to freak us both out…
And there was this other time when my brother, our neighbors ( a boy and a girl) and me, we were at my house and we were playing hide and seek… Stupid thing on my part seeing as how I’m terrified of the dark… And so I was the one that had to look for the others…well I found one of them, he scared the crap out of me when I found him on the shoe cabinet in the hallway. I think everyone in my building found out as well… 😀
Thank you so much for this giveaway and for making it international.
I know… lol. I’ve been avoiding reading these at night!
That’s super creepy about the car and I’m betting you didn’t play hide-and-seek in the dark much more after that? lol
Thank you very much for the giveaway!
You’re welcome! Good luck!
Creepy moment: I use to think that the library in my home town was haunted, all the book racks would spin on their own and there was a creepy picture in the stairwell (the eyes followed you). But the library has since then moved, I am very glad!!!
Eeee… that does sound like a very creepy place!
Receiving a phone call in the middle of the night where a person was yelling nonsense scared me.
Yeah. That would be scary, especially when you’re still kinda out of it!
Well, when it comes to fictional stuff like vampires and zombies, I’m pretty cool. But a couple of months back, I ended up researching real-life creeps (serial killers) – GOD KNOWS WHY – and totally terrified myself every time some guy walked down the street and looked closely at the house, because I was home alone.
Gah. I have too wild of an imagination.
Sometimes the inhumanity and cruelty of people can definitely be more scary than the supernatural. And I do that too. Most recently I was sucked into wikipedia-ing the exploits of the serial killer in that historical book “Devil in the White City.” This is the dude who was probably the inspiration for the Hostel movie. Don’t wikipedia it… he was messed up.
When i opened the door to enter the bathroom, the lizard fell onto my face. uuurrrrrrgggggggghhhhh.. it’s time for them to extinct
Bleh! Yuck! Not a huge fan of lizards myself.
I have not had too many ghosly experiences. I think that the house that we live in now might have a friendly ghost. One time doing dishes I thought that I felt someone run their hand up the back of my leg. Also sometimes I will hear music and there is nothing on. No tv or radio.
Thanks for the giveaway and the chance.
Eee…that’s weird. At least it’s not malicious… it’s just apparently kinda handsy. And the music. Maybe you have yourself a bit of a Casanova. lol
Okay, so, we were playing Sardens in my church one dark night. I was lost, and couldn’t find anyone. Suddenly, something jumps at me and I nearly hit the person over the head. Turns out it was just my friend Morgan. I nearly killed him for it.
LOL… I think I would’ve nearly killed him too. Geez!
Thanks for the giveaway chance! It’s awesome!
I don’t really have a freaky ghostly encounter, but I feel like my house is haunted, because lights turn on and off all the time, and I ALWAYS feel like someone is watching me. I see things all the time, too, out of the corner of my eye. People think I’m crazy, haha.

P.S, I’m having a giveaway of a signed copy of Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins on my blog, if you would like to enter.
As a kid after watching a scary movie I would always feel like someone was watching me getting ready to jump out and attack me. I would have to sleep in the middle of the bed because I was quite certain I was going to get pulled under. Nothing creepy ever happened but the thought that it might had me scared out of my mind.
That kind of fear is hard to overcome when it’s dark and your imagination is going crazy.
My most spooky experience could be either when there’s strong winds my wall or rather house being triple storey, feels like its gonna blow away (and we liv on a valley/hill so even worse). No ghosts involved but it feels like I might end up in Oz…well I am actually being Aussie 😉
Or spooooky spooky when I was younger I went into this Tomb raider experience thingy at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, and the actors pretending to be the dogs wiped against me I got scared shitless.
Strong winds would scare me too in a house that tall! Actors in full-body costumes always scared me when I was a kid too
My spooktacular experience was when my sisters – an avid fan of GHI – persuaded me to go ghost hunting and we went to an abandoned house near our town and we’d been there for about two hours when the all the doors in the room we were in banged shut. Needless to say we ran out very quickly! 😛
YIKES! That sounds super freaky! I’d be high-tailing it out of there too!
Spookiest experience I can remember…I went to the grocery store when I was like 19ish…came out and this guy in a truck let me pass infront of him on my way out of the store. He then circled the parking lot waiting for me to get in my car, then followed me out of the lot…I went a gas station to fill up and get some gum. When I came out of the store he was in the parking lot waiting for me. I got in my car quickly and was about to call the police when he sped off and I never saw him again.
Another time, I went to the video store shortly after I got married and there was a guy there who approached me and tried to pick me up…he tried to keep me from getting into my car and I had to get forceful with him (used my get out of my way or I’ll kick you in the balls voice) to get him to back off. Ugh, my skin crawls just thinking about it.
Ugh…. what creepers. I’m not sure I’d heard the first story before but I vaguely recall the second. So creepy.
I haven’t had many really spooky experiences but many years ago my husband and I were looking at houses to buy when we went to see an old Victorian looking house on 10 acres that really needed work done on it. It was a fixer upper, just what we were looking for, and would have been perfect except for the fact that every time I walked in the front door I got the sense that there was something evil there and the hairs on my arm would literally stand up! The price was right, the location was great, but I refused to buy it because I just knew I would never be happy there. Just a weird thing that happened in my usually normal life!!
Yikes. It’s probably a good thing you decided not to buy that house.
Is that house here in Columbus?
My creepiest moment was when my husband and I were watching Strangers and my husband ended up shutting it off because he was freaking out. We went to bed and then that night at 4am our doorbell rang just like what happened in the movie! Of course it wasn’t random people standing outside it was the police looking for a little boy that had been missing since the day before but it was still creepy to happen the same night. My husband even called out Who is it? Just like the movie
LOL…. so he made you answer the door? What a weird coincidence!
The scariest thing that has happened to me actually happened a few weeks ago. My brother stayed home from school sick that day. I got home from classes and when I entered the house he was sitting in the kitchen, pale. I asked what was wrong and he said that just as I got out of the car there was huge bang from the back of the house. I thought something must have fallen in the bathroom and that it was no big deal. Since he was to scared to look for it I went and couldn’t find anything. Turning to go back to the kitchen I happened to glance in my brothers room and stopped in shock. My brothers ceiling light’s glass cover lay shattered all over his floor. It couldn’t have just fallen because there where safety clams screwed into the ceiling to stop that from happening. I looked for the clamps and they were gone. To this day we haven’t found the clamps and have yet to figure out how it fell though I’m sure the screws just came loose.
Very weird. Glad he wasn’t in there when it happened!
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!Last year we had to present our short science fiction stories in front of the two classes. I was totally freaking out. I know this is no ghost story but it was scary at the time…
I am also terrified of public speaking so I can totally identify. Did it go well?
The scariest thing that happened to me was when I was home alone during the day. I was on the computer and happened to look behind me, into the glass of our fireplace and I saw FEET! It could not have been either of my dogs, as both of them were no where near where I saw the feet. Very scary!
breakkanamexd[at]aol[dot]com
Eeee! So they were dog feet? SCARY!
My most spooky experience was once when I was 12 (ish) I was laying in bed and then I woke up because something blew in my ear. The door to my room was closed and there was no one and nothing else in my room. It was sooo creepy!
Ewww…that is creepy!
I had my spoo-ooo-ooktacular experience just recently.
Picture this: It’s around 10pm and you’re watching TV. Your dog is resting by your feet and on the floor cca. 3′ infront of you is his favorite ball. The ball just sits there. No one is touching it. No one is walking by it. It’s just lying there, perfectly still. When all of the sudden the ball moves back and forth. Just like that. On its own. Even your dog, who was asleep, noticed the movement.
Spooky, right?
And now picture this happening to you just one day after you watched Paranormal Activity 2.
This still unexplained ball movement freaked the hell out of me!
Thanks for the giveaway!
Ummm…YIKES! I don’t want to imagine… trying not to! lol. Very spooky!
we rode past a cemetery at midnightnight/ my parents and i in the car i was 7 and mom and i saw 3 little age 6 ish boys playing football along the graves
Thanks for the giveaway!
Hmmm… real boys or not real? Still very strange either way.
thought I lost a person dear to me,
got scared that he got kidnapped, etc.
finally found him though, safe
That would have been terrifying! I’m so glad you found him safe and sound.
Heard footsteps approach my room and stop at the open door I had my back too. I waited for someone to speak then turned around. Nada.
For a long moment, my axial skeleton threatened to leap out and crawl away … which probably would have been equally creepy.
I’m willing to bet your skeleton voluntarily leaving your body and crawling away may in fact be MORE creepy than the footsteps. But I’m not sure. I have never experienced either.
Drats: *to.
Well this is a story my mom told me. I live in Wisconsin and maybe you’ve heard of Ed Gein. He murdered people and skinned then and would eat their organs and such and where their skin. He was the inspiration for Hannibal Lector. Well we don’t live far from where he lived and my mom told me when she was younger, after his house was demolished and gone, her and her boyfriend went and parked in his driveway and got out. She said it was spooky and there were hand prints on the hood of the car and when they went to leave the car wouldn’t start right away. It took a couple times. Creepy.
That is definitely creepy. He was one messed up dude.
Last weekend I was home alone and reading Maureen Johnson’s The Name of the Star. While I was reading I heard a noise as if something had fallen in the room next to mine. I searched the room but never found the source of the noise.
Creeeeeepy!
let me tell about when we went to tenn last summer well i was sitting in a diner across form the theater were the groups play well we went to see the grand opera and when i started taking picture and the one group came on and the girl said quit pinching me well low and behold it was grampa jones sitting on stage and i took the pic to the office and told me who it is
and then we went to the elvis mansion and i seen him over 4 times in about 4 hr he was walking around the house and then he was down stairs and told the people he was walking down the isle in white outfit and freaked some lady out it was so cool then he was on the plain
desithelblonde2msn.com
LOL… so Elvis lives, eh?
On Halloween, when I was trickotreating with friends, I was walking up the driveway when the sleeping scarecrow came alive and hugged me.
I was always scared of those more “interactive” houses on the block when I was a kid… lol. Did you scream?
Doing the ouija board as a kid and the chandelier suddenly beginning to shake side to side and the light going on and off.
Scary!
What are you TALKING! about – all of you no no no THIS here this blog hop is the most creepiest thing? the sheer size of it is monstrous!!
*runs screaming into the run – the horror the madness the insanity!* I will not succumb oh no no no
*clutches at bleeding nose caused by the sheer length of that blog hop list*
Pabkins @ Mission to Read
LOL…I know. It was frighteningly, insanely LONG. My fingers are definitely tired, I think my touchpad on my laptop has a permanent groove on it from all the clicking and scrolling, and when I close my eyes all I see is the linky list. And nice try… I see you sneaking out those books. 😉 Hahaha…
*snatches books on way out of the room – hoping that slithering on belly will hide them*
I’ve had a few ghostly encounters, but the creepiest happened a few years ago when one of my best friends and I went on a haunted Halloween ghost tour in a city that’s known as one of the most haunted in Canada. During the tour, we were heading up the stairs to a church and I noticed a couple embracing at the top of the steps…I thought to myself ‘I hope they move’. I looked away for a second and when I looked back, they were gone…and the only way they could have gone was right by us. I looked around, but there was no sign of them. Then later on, after the tour, we were heading to a pub for something to eat before the drive home, and on the sidewalk, I saw three shadows – my friend’s, mine, and…I turned around and there was no one there. I thought I was imagining it, but when I looked back, the shadow was still there…clear as day, walking right beside me. Scared the living daylights out of me!
Oooo… what city is that? The embracing couple is kinda sweet, but the fact that you had a tag-along is definitely creepy. Did your bestie see the shadow too?
Thank you for participating in the hop and the giveaway opportunity.
I have not had a scary moment really. But I visited a furniture store that was in an old building and heard the proprietor give several examples of their resident ghost.
The stories are more interesting when it’s not in a place you regularly frequent or live in, huh? lol
Creepiest experience…probably when I was alone in my room and suddenly the wind blew my door shut and the lights went off? sounds technical, but when it happens, it’s extremely unnerving hahaha.
Yes. Definitely unnerving.
I am the biggest sissy! My husband likes to tease me about how I read all these semi-scary books and then have to sleep with all the lights on practically wrapped around him. lol
Anyway, one time many years ago, before I was married, I came home late at night. I walked in the door and raised my hand to turn on the light but before I could even touch the switch, the light flickered and came on. This was weird, but I didn’t think too much about it. BUT then as I walked through the house and passed by my stereo, suddenly the speakers started blaring “If I Could Turn Back Time” by Cher. I immediately ran out of the house and went to my mother’s house where I stayed for over a week. One of my neighbors called the police because I hadn’t even bothered to turn off the stereo or shut the door behind me and the loud music woke them up. I refused to go back to the house until one of my friends agreed to stay there with me for a while. Nothing else strange happened but I quickly found another place and moved, luckily I was renting!!
Umm… I’d be moving too. That’s freaky. And I’d probably never listen to Cher again. lol
So this is my creepy story. I was walking from my bedroom to the kitchen one night, I lived in a one floor house and the hallway was towards the street so I had to pass the bathroom, the front door, and the dining room which had huge open windows. I walked towards the dining room to go to the kitchen and outside the window is a streetlamp, at the bottom of the streetlamp was a black figure with an overcoat and a hat like a detective back in the day. Needless to say the figure just stared at me the entire time, I got so creeped out I ran back to my room got under the covers locked the doors and windows and cowered myself to sleep, because the figure had disappeared before I ran.
Ooooo….you just saw it disappear? Cuh-reepy!
I often experience Deja Vu and it creeps me out every time it happens. It always happens that I have had a dream about a conversation or a place and when I experience it in real life I tend to freak out a little. One example was while in college I went to Atlanta and my host dragged me to a church. It was the first time I had ever been to ATL in my life, and we walked into the meeting hall/room whatever you call it, and I had totally been there during a nightmare. Needless to say I was completely freaked out.
Umm…yeah. That’s incredibly disconcerting, especially since it had been a nightmare.
my creepy moment was a few months ago when we were living in California. I was sitting at the computer in our bedroom when my pony tail was pulled with enough force to snap my head back. I immediately turned around, sure it was one of my kids and even more sure they would be laughing except my room was empty. I walked into the kitchen ready to demand an explanation to find all three of my kids snuggled on the couch with their blankets and engrossed in a movie
Umm…ouch. So not a nice whatever-it-is? Bet you’re glad you’ve moved.
I had my fortune told by a frind of a friend. They said that she was a true witch. I know she was quite scarry:)

Yikes. Good fortune or bad?
I don’t have much of a creepy tale. While I love Halloween, I am not a creepy experience kind of person so I keep it just a fun time.
I’m with you Shari. I’m all for good fun, not the super-dark, scary stuff.
I don’t have any ghost/paranormal experience but i have scary real life experience… How would you like it if you wake up in the middle of the night, needs the restroom and when you get there you see a snake stretch on the toilet bowl? it woke the whole family up. We were thinking it came from the window facing the back of the house.
Talk about heart-stopping! Ugh… snakes. Yeah, I definitely be screaming.
One time, I was sleeping in bed. In the middle of the night, I felt someone trying to shake me awake. It freaked me out. I had been hiding under my blanket the whole time. The next morning, I asked my family on who did it, but no one did.
Creepy, creepy, creepy!
I’ve seen a door slam for absolutely no reason before. Then I watched Paranormal Activity. Yup. My house is haunted.
Yeah, I’ve never seen that movie, way too scary for me. That’s so creepy.
This one is more my dad’s…he was visiting a concentration camp in Europe-touring is a better word, I suppose-when he swears he saw uniformed guards shoving two prisoners. He says he turned to the others in the group and told them what a realistic recreation he got to see…but no one else saw it oO
I don’t believe in ghosts, per se, but it’s kind of sad to think that the victims of the holocaust don’t know peace even in death. So sad, and unsettling.
When I was little, a long, long time ago, I was at my friends house. We were in her mom’s bedroom and her sister told us to look out the window at the moon. Just then, her neighbor popped up with a werewolf mask. Scared me to pieces. Still remember that after all these years.
LOL…what a nasty trick! Yeah, I probably would’ve been crying and calling my mom to come get me… when I was a kid, of course… not now. Maybe.
When I was around 12 or 13 (a very, very long time ago) a cousin was murdered. On the same night I remember hearing a whistle through the open window. He used to whistle exactly like that.
jmesparza821(at)gmail(dot)com
I’m so sorry about your cousin, that’s tragic. That’s really weird about the whistling!
When I was in college, one night several friends and I went to check out the local haunted legend called the “Spook Light”. It was supposedly a light that mysteriously appeared at night with no explanation for the light as it was “out in the boonies”, away from all farms and towns. We sat in our car waiting for what seemed like an hour when suddenly the light appeared and started moving toward our car. The closer it got the larger it got. When it was within a few hundred yards of our car, the driver slammed the car in reverse (which we had left running because it was a little chilly out) and we took off, making us believers of the local legend.
I actually went and googled this after reading your comment! It’s so interesting! What did it look like? Did it move funny like they say it sometimes does?
My friends and I did a ghost hunt at the Moundsville Penitentiary, we were locked in for the whole night. We were up in the Psyche Ward and we heard tapping on the nurses desk, when we went over it stopped. We decided to listen to the tape recorder, there was at least three people on it screaming and crying, one was crying for the nurse and his meds. It was the scariest thing ever.
Omigosh. I’d be out of there so fast! There’s something just really scary about psych wards/old insane asylums. Did you guys manage to stick it out the rest of the night?
My scary experience isn’t really spooky. But it scared the crap out of me when i was a teenager.
I used to have to walk home after dark from the bus stop. And this big black dog lived in a house on my way home. Well some nights this dog would be loose and run up to me. I’d get the scare of my life. I have no idea why i didn’t go up to the house and tell them not to leave their dog running loose. I sure would now!
Yikes, that would be scary! Was he a mean dog?
My spooky out story is having a picture
fall off the wall down the stairs.
But at the time we just heard a loud crashing
sound. We found out some not to flatterery
history of a old ancestor – maybe he was not
happy with out findings. He chose to scary us.
so scaryyyyyyyyy oooooooooooo

I have 2. One was in the house where I grew up, I was walking down the hall and saw a figure in an old fashioned dressing gown standing in front of my closet as if looking for something to wear. The other was in an apartment where I was living, my mom and sister were there and we were leaving to go to a funeral. One of us said its time to go and the TV turned off. We were all on the other side of the room and the remote was on the coffee table in the middle of the room.
Eeeee…. creepy! Did you ever see her again? And that’s super unsettling about the TV… especially considering that you were headed to a funeral.
Few years back, i was walking home from work and i usually take a shortcut through the cemetary. it cuts like 10 minutes off my walk. Anyways one night i was walking home and not really paying much attention to my surroundings since i was on my cell phone. i was walking along when few steps ahead of me someone jumps out behindd one of the graves (it was a tall one) and heads streaight for me. person was dressed all in black, i was scared shitless. i did not panic but rather as the person came close to me i kneed him in the groin twice before he started yelling STOp Stop. well it turns out it was one of my friends that i work with trying to play a prank on me. i was so mad at him and than i did not talk to him for a week, but after a week i got over it. but i have to say i was scared and creeped out by the experience.
LOL… two knees to the groin is too nice in my opinion. Geez!
When I was younger, I lived in a haunted house. Whenever I was left home alone, I could here children running up and down the stairs. The piano in the foyer would also play by itself every once and a while. I never got use to it, and it freaked me out to be left home alone.
[shiver]… I am of the opinion that there’s nothing creepier than little children noises, and the piano playing itself… yikes. Did anyone else in your family hear these things when they were home alone?
At my parents there is a ghost cat that both my brother and I see from time to time. It is strangely haunting. MY brother sees it more than me and will immediately leave the room when it is around. My parents also felt it walk up the bed once, but they have never seen it. It is also a black cat.
Hmmm… cats are kinda creepy anyway. The way they stare at you, and their eyes are so intelligent. That would be unsettling.
One morning I woke up & my Mother was gone. No one would tell me where she was. 6 days later she arrived home with the spawn of the Devil – my baby bother.

Haha… I think it’s mandatory for all little siblings to be slightly devilish.
Happy Halloween. My scariest event was when we went to look at a house that was up for sale. Was in the house for a mater of 5 minutes and had to leave. To this day I drive around the house. Walked in, white candles burned every where, crosses up, and in the basement a locked half door. CREEPY and was not right.

Hmmm…. that does sound pretty suspiciously creepy. The realtor might rethink their selling strategy for a more generic, cookies baking kind of approach. lol Did someone end up buying it, or is it still for sale?
I’ve had a few ghostly experiences but I think the one that scared me the most happened when I was around 6. It was the only time in my life that I had my own room. I was in bed and looking at my window that faced into the back yard. I saw a black shadow figure walk by the window. It was a flat black not like a real person and the face reminded me of a rat’s with the long nose. I later read that some mediums and psychics believe that the black shadow figures are nasty. I was so scared I moved back into the room with my sister the next week.
Omigosh… so scary. What do they think the black shadow figures mean? Did it notice you or could you tell?
Weird fact about me, I cannot sleep in a room that does not have a window covering. As soon as it gets dark outside, all of our blinds and curtains get closed. Dunno why, but I’ve always been that way.

Thank you and good luck!
There were animals like bears and mountain lions attacking and eating people in my neighborhood! It was horrifying, and I was so freaking scared. They almost came into my house, but then I woke up. PHEW. Thankfully it was only a dream. But still, that was a recurring nightmare for me last year and it really creeped me out. :\
Wow…what a terrible recurring nightmare! Hope that it’s gone for good!
Ok, not super spooky, but my siblings and I loved to torture the babysitter. After all she was in highschool! We would tell her that someone had cut the phone lines, bu we had simply unplugged the phones! She never figured it out and we did it every time she came! She was so creeped out and all we could do was try to act scared and not laugh! She must have dreaded being asked to babysit us!!
lol…so you guys were the babysitting job from hell? Hahaha… that’s hilarious. Not for her, obviously. But man, I can’t believe she never figured you guys out. You guys must’ve been pretty convincing. And the Oscar goes to… 😉
At around midnight for the last few weeks, the TV turns itself off on its own. Also, when I’m in the livingroom I hear furniture upstairs being rearranged, like chairs getting dragged along the floor.
I thought, with the TV, it was a problem with the remote. But when I told my friend about it, she said she and her boyfriend used a Ouija board in my house while I was gone and she was house-sitting for me. They played with the Ouija board just before the strange things started.
Now I’m wondering – maybe they invited something else while they played around.

Yikes. Yeah, I tend to think of Ouija boards as more than just some creepy, harmless fun. It’s serious stuff to play around with. Is the furniture actually moved, or do you just hear noises? That’s super creepy.
My spookiest experience is when something hit me in the back, while I’m sleeping. And there’s just me alone at my room! After I pray and pray so hard, that hit is stop! *shudder*
Oh my! I hope you were alright, I’m glad you had some divine intervention!
Well I get freaked out alot!!!! LOL I am scared so easily. In my room is the door to the roofspace and my bed faces it. One night I feel alsleep while watching tv and woke up but was still have alsleep. I swore I saw a hand coming out of the roofspace and started screaming. I made my dad go up and check I freaked my self out. We know have locks on it. I made him go and buy them there and then and put them on or I wasnt sleeping!!!
I don’t blame you, that’s scary!
When I was a kid, me and my friends would play in my attic. Which was already a spooky place, but we didnt truely fear the ghostly goings on because we were really young. Anyhow, one day we were playing a game where we would have one kid turn off the lights on one side of the attic, and the rest of us would rush through the darkness from one side of the attic to the other to get to the light switch. The winner would get a pick of a piece of candy from a small pile our folks gave us. We played maybe twice and thought it was fun but the third time, something went wrong. As soon as the lights went off, something grabbed me. I thought it was one of my friends but when I touched what held my middle, it was like touching a snake coil. The thing did not like my touch and started shaking me and swinging me up and down, off the floor and back down to it with a hard bounce. My friends around me started crying out and there were more bangs and thumps. We called for the kid in the front of the attic to turn on the lights but he was banging on the door, shouting about it being stuck. Our folks heard the banging coming from my attic and broke through the door. The minute the lights came on, everyone fell to the floor. The ghost had disappeared. My folks were very disturbed to hear my story of what happened as we had had trouble with ghostly goings on before in our family and the house itself. But it had never been as dangerous as this one encounter had been. We had a priest come bless the house for the second time. Apparently it worked. I never had another violent encounter, although the ghost activity continues to this day.
Omigoodness, that’s beyond freaky. That’s an experience that could be truly scarring and I’m glad you’re ok! Your family still lives in the same house? Is there a history to the house that you know of?
Most creepy, spine-tingling experience: thinking spiders were crawling in my bed. Scariest nightmare ever!

Oooooo….I’m a slight arachnophobe so that would’ve freaked me out as well.
My worst experience was when I heard a voice come over my newborns baby monitor “shhhh… Dont touch the baby, you will wake him up”….
[shiver]… omigosh. I hope that you were just picking up someone else’s monitor, but that just seems a little too coincidental. I’d have been sleeping with the lights on after that. lol
I was about 8 or so and my siblings were playing witha ouji board all well and good except when creapy things started to happen lights flickiering scarest part was when knives came flying out of no where i can deff say was the scariest thing ever
hmmm… that is terrifying! I hope no one was hurt!
Woke up after dreaming that someone had broke into my house and I’d shot at them with a gun. My front door was standing wide open.
lol…are you sure it was a dream? Guess your dream had divine timing.
To be honest I never *knock on wood* had one. I’m a real scaredy cat so that won’t be good for me.
I have never had one either…and as I am also a scaredy cat, I’m rather grateful for that. lol
My creepiest experience? This is totally true, I swear!
I was visiting the grave of one of my best friends. It was pouring rain, and I was grieving. I was kneeling on the ground in front of his grave and asked for a sign that everything was alright. Suddenly, I noticed that the rain started to lighten until it was a very fine drizzle – barely anything. I laughed and cried some more, as I knew this was the sign I had asked for. I spent a while longer talking to him and then turned to leave and walked back to my car. The moment I shut my door, the rain came down in buckets!! Some might say this is a coincidence, but my heart tells me it wasn’t!

Slightly unsettling, but heart-warming at the same time. Glad you were able to get some assurance about your friend.
