There are times when Heather & I finish a book, but don’t have time to write a full, comprehensive review… or even a shorter “flashbulb” review. BUT we still want to share our thoughts with you on what we’ve been reading. That’s why every Saturday we’ll be featuring 2 “snippet” reviews — short, sweet, to-the-point reviews that we’ll try to keep to 2-7 sentences. So we hope you enjoy these!!

Blurb: Aidan O’Linn’s childhood ended the night he saw a demon kill his mother and mark his sister, Ava, with Darkness. Since then, every three years the demons have returned to try to claim her. Living in the gritty, forgotten corners of Los Angeles, Aidan has … Read more
An imaginative, engaging urban fantasy. The fantastic world, overlaid over the familiar, is interesting, different, and disturbing, as is the history and mythology behind it. Not a huge fan of the love triangle in this novel as it seems rather forced, but it doesn’t occupy a large part of the story, and I’m interested in knowing the reasons behind why it exists. Really liked the sibling relationship between Aidan and Ava (reminds me a bit of River & Simon Tam), and I am looking forward to more of their story in Darkness Fair.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!
The romance, the banter, the characters, the complexity of plot–loved all of it! Logan and Rachel are just amazing together, separate, whatever. It was absolutely fantastic to read their story.
I also liked the long-game of the world building. The fact that we are still left uncertain of the details of why the world is the way it is, is rather captivating. I want to dig a little deeper and figure out what’s going on. I also loved the villain. I know that’s weird, but sometimes, I just want a book that has a character that’s easy to dislike…someone who seems utterly impossible to defeat but you really hope gets taken out in the end. And the Commander is definitely that guy. I can’t wait to read more!
Overall, action packed, beautifully executed, must read.
