Fifteen-year-old Alice Montgomery wakes up in the lobby of the B&B where she has been vacationing with her family, to a startling discovery. No one can see or hear her! The cheap desk lights have been replaced with gas lamps and the linoleum tiled floor with hardwood and rich Oriental carpeting. Someone has replaced the artwork with eerie paintings of Elizabeth Blackwell, the insane actress and rumored witch who killed herself at the hotel in the 1880s. Alice watches from behind The Looking Glass where she is haunted by Elizabeth Blackwell.
Trapped in the 19th century version of the hotel, Alice must figure out a way to break Elizabeth’s curse—with the help of Elizabeth’s old diary and Tony, the son of a ghost hunter who is investigating the haunted B&B—before she becomes the inn’s next victim.
This sounds wonderfully creepy. The mix of past and present? A haunted 100-year-old+ hotel? A malicious ghost? And the ghost hunter’s son? Um, yes please.

Ask Aria Morse anything, and she must answer with the truth. Yet she rarely understands the cryptic words she‘s compelled to utter. Blessed—or cursed—with the power of an Oracle who cannot decipher her own predictions, she does her best to avoid anyone and everyone.
But Aria can no longer hide when Jade, one of the few girls at school who ever showed her any kindness, disappears. Any time Aria overhears a question about Jade, she inadvertently reveals something new, a clue or hint as to why Jade vanished. But like stray pieces from different puzzles, her words never present a clear picture.
Then there’s Alex, damaged and dangerous, but the first person other than Jade to stand up for her. And Will, who offers a bond that seems impossible for a girl who’s always been alone. Both were involved with Jade. Aria may be the only one who can find out what happened, but the closer she gets to solving the crime, the more she becomes a target. Not everyone wants the truth to come out.
Oracles? Protectors? Mysterious crimes? This could be a totally awesome read.
So… what are you looking forward to this Wednesday?
The Looking Glass sounds SO COOL! And that cover!! I’ve never read a ghost-hunter kind of book before, so I’m excited for that too. And woah, oracles in a mystery novel? Never heard of that before!
Great picks!
