There are times when Heather, Aly & I finish a book, but don’t have time to write a full, comprehensive review… or even a shorter “flashbulb” review. BUT we still want to share our thoughts with you on what we’ve been reading. That’s why every Saturday we’ll be featuring 3 “snippet” reviews — short, sweet, to-the-point reviews that we’ll try to keep to 2-7 sentences. So we hope you enjoy these!!

Apologies for the lengthy snippets that are most definitely MORE than 7 sentences. Eh, what can we say? Some rules are meant to be broken.

Blurb: Swept into a world of monsters, illusion, immortal honor and revenge, Joy discovers that sometimes, there are no mistakes. Read more…
Indelible is an inventive take on the world of the Fae. The Twixt is dark, fascinating and well-conceived, while Metcalf’s characters, creatures and environments wonderfully creative and vividly depicted. The mystery is interesting, and the story, while it floundered a bit at the beginning, ultimately sucked me in.
Joy is a great protagonist – an average girl who helps to put all the weirdness in a very human perspective, who let herself get freaked out by the strangeness, the danger, and the creepiness, who didn’t always know the right thing to do or say. But Joy’s loyal and passionate and she’s stronger than she realizes as she navigates through this new unknown as well as her own personal emotional issues.
And then there’s Ink. I LOVE Ink. He’s this curious mix of naivete contrasted against an “ancient otherness.” Heartbreakingly vulnerable at times as he struggles with his purpose and identity, yet Ink is also confident, capable and at times, ferocious. He’s part Fae, and yet not, but his internal war over who and what he is makes him wholly relatable.
And then there’s Joy and Ink. Oh. My. Word. Yes. I loved them together and Dawn Metcalf has the amazing ability to infuse the most innocent of moments with incredible intensity and passion. There’s this moment where Ink touches Joy’s ear…… <fans self>
Yes…. I did say ear. No. I’m not kidding. And… wow. <more fanning>
ANYWAY, I want more. Of all of it. So consider me eagerly anticipating Invisible.

Blurb: Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she most willing to fight for? Read more…
I cannot even contain my love for this book, and I was totally unprepared for that. No, wait, let me ‘splain this to you. I LOVED the novellas leading up to Throne of Glass, I mean LOVED them. I gushed over them. I cried over them. They seriously made an impression on me. Then I read Throne of Glass (think…in three days I read all the novellas and the novel…I was totally immersed in this world). I liked it. I was intrigued. I wanted to keep reading the series, but I didn’t LOVE it like I did the novellas. Then I read Crown of Midnight. O_O
What you wanted more?
Oh ok, fine I’ll tell you. CHAOL. Oh my word. He is such an intriguing character. I wanted to just hug that man. Ugh, I can’t be more spoilery than that. Then there is Dorian. While I am totally Team Chaol, Dorian is sweet and wonderful, but he’s weak. Well, let’s just say, the dude grows up…a LOT. And Celaena, wow, she is soooooo one of my favorite heroines ever. Vulnerable and wonderful and strong and epic. Wowser.
To sum up…Crown of Midnight = one of my top 5 reads of 2013. Add it to your TBR…do it! You will not be sorry!
Happy Reading!
