There are times when Heather, Aly & I finish a book, but don’t have time to write a full, comprehensive review… or even a shorter “flashbulb” review. BUT we still want to share our thoughts with you on what we’ve been reading. That’s why every Saturday we’ll be featuring 3 “snippet” reviews — short, sweet, to-the-point reviews that we’ll try to keep to 2-7 sentences. So we hope you enjoy these!!
Author: Rebecca Ethington Title: Eyes of Ember Series: Imdalind (Book #2) Published: April 6, 2013 Format: 380 pages; Kindle Website: www.rebeccaethington.com Source: Purchased Blurb: Joclyn is in hiding, hunted by the man she still desperately loves. Read more…
Wow. Well, that was intense. Conflicting. Action-packed. Absolutely heart-shattering. And oh so good. I liked seeing Jos come into her own in this book, as she worked through accepting herself for who and what she is, overcoming her insecurities and fears, and her super conflicted feelings for both Ryland and Ilyan. Speaking of Ryland and Ilyan, holy crap on a stick, the romantic tension was… just confusing, tortuous and twisted me inside-out-and-upside-down (i.e. I loved it.) And if that all that wasn’t agonizing and traumatizing enough, can we just talk about that ending?! SERIOUSLY?
I am very much looking forward to Book #3, ’cause I honestly don’t have much of a guess as to what’s going to happen from here, and I love when an author is able to generate that uncertain “I-dunno-what’s-going-to-happen-because-anything-could-happen-but-whatever-happens-please-don’t-totally-destroy-my-heart” feeling.

Honestly, this wasn’t as strong of a sequel as I’d hoped for. Jackson was great and I enjoyed his development more than anything. The plot was ok, up until the end, but the pacing was all over the place and there were a lot of moments when I just wondered where the story was going. I’m hopeful for the last book, but I’m keeping things on a cautiously optimistic level.

Pretty bummed by this one. The characters were not as dimensional as I’ve come to expect from JLA. It seemed like a typical “broken girl + bad boy who’s willing to change for aforementioned broken girl = true love” plotline. Not a favorite.
Happy Reading!
I need to read Vortex. I loved Tempest.
I hope you get a chance to read it soon! Thanks Andreea!
