There are times when Heather, Aly & I finish a book, but don’t have time to write a full, comprehensive review… or even a shorter “flashbulb” review. BUT we still want to share our thoughts with you on what we’ve been reading. That’s why every Saturday we’ll be featuring 3 “snippet” reviews — short, sweet, to-the-point reviews that we’ll try to keep to 2-5 sentences. So we hope you enjoy these!!
I’ve been trying to work around my growing disenchantment with the whole of NA to figure out what to say about After Math and I’ve settled on this: If you’re looking for something new and original to the New Adult genre, you will not find it in After Math. However, if you love NA and are craving more romances along the vibe of Easy, then chances are good you will love this book. Don’t get me wrong, it’s enjoyable, and I devoured it a matter of hours. Tucker & Scarlett are interesting, their stories compelling, their romance exciting (though extremely angsty)… it’s just… the overall feeling of “sameness” that has become so prevalent in New Adult that I was left with after finishing the novel. Overall, After Math is cute and fun with a love story that’s sure to make your heart pitter-patter a little faster, but it’s also same song, different verse.
*** This novel contains mature themes, situations and language that isn’t suitable for younger readers. Recommended for readers 18 and older.
Put on your seat belts kiddos because this book is a bumpy ride for sure! Epic intrigues, space ships, new characters that are made of off the chart awesome, plot twists and turns that leave you in awe. Scarlet is another beautiful installment to the Lunar Chronicles. I think what gripped me the most about this book, more even than my love of the new characters, was the growth of characters. The world and the plot are fantastic but what makes these books are definitely that I LOVE the characters…or hate them as the case may be. =) Highly recommended.
