Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
1. Never trust anyone.
2. Remember they are always searching.
3. Don’t get involved.
4. Keep your head down.
5. Don’t fall in love.
Five simple rules. Ariane Tucker has followed them since the night she escaped from the genetics lab where she was created, the result of combining human and extraterrestrial DNA. Ariane’s survival—and that of her adoptive father—depends on her ability to blend in among the full-blooded humans in a small Wisconsin town, to hide in plain sight at her high school from those who seek to recover their lost (and expensive) “project.”
But when a cruel prank at school goes awry, it puts her in the path of Zane Bradshaw, the police chief’s son and someone who sees too much. Someone who really sees her. After years of trying to be invisible, Ariane finds the attention frightening—and utterly intoxicating. Suddenly, nothing is simple anymore, especially not the rules…
“She’s in my gym class,” Cassi offered in her breathy voice. She and Cami had seemingly formed a pact early in life that Cami would be the smart one, relatively speaking, and Cassi would be the pretty one. This despite the fact that they were identical twins. Regardless, they each played their role to the hilt. “But she never participates,” she added, sounding confused. “She sits on the bleachers. Or on the grass. But only when we’re, you know, outside.”
7%, The Rules by Stacey Kade
Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.
No matter what I felt, no matter how strong my feelings, I could never separate the urge to kiss Zeke from the desire to sink my fangs into his throat. That was another reason I’d left Eden without saying goodbye, without letting anyone know where I was going. I couldn’t be near Zeke without putting his life in danger. Eventually I would kill him.
~4%, The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa
What are you reading this week?
You just made me desperate to start reading my own copy of The Eternity Cure… I read The Immortal Rules in July and loved it so much! Great teaser, I really want to see what Allie does now that she’s left everyone behind!
My TT
I’m really enjoying it so far! Hope you will too! Thanks for stopping by!
Oooh, I like that The Eternity Cure teaser! I really need to catch up and read the first book. I’m excited for The Rules too! Thanks so much for sharing these!
My Teaser Tuesday
Although both teasers made me want to read more, the one from The Rules really grabbed me. I love the premise of the story.
My teaser is from CONFESSIONS OF AN INSTINCTIVELY MUTINOUS BABY BOOMER.
Ohhhh man, what a great teaser for The Eternity Cure! I must read this series!
I’m reading The Eternity Cure right now and LOVING every second of it. Even though it is all death and disaster.
Great teaser! I still need to read The Rules.
Just finished my ARC of The Rules last night and I really enjoyed it. I like that it wasn’t really a cliffhanger. But I still can’t wait to read the next one and tweeted such to Stacey! LOL! I also liked The Eternity Cure, although not as much as the first book in the series, I must say.
