Saturday Snippet Reviews | The Summer Before I Met You & Opal
There are times when Heather, Aly & I finish a book, but don’t have time to write a full comprehensive review… or even a shorter “flashbulb” review. BUT we still want to share our thoughts with you on what we’ve been reading. That’s why every Saturday we’ll be featuring 3 “snippet” reviews — short, sweet, to-the-point reviews that we’ll try to keep to 2-5 sentences. So we hope you enjoy these!!
This one time at cricket camp…
So this is the skinny about what happened during Kami & Angela’s stint at cricket camp. More fun character development, more insight into Kami’s family dynamic and also her friendship with Angela… and an interesting perspective on Rusty. Suspicions confirmed? Perhaps…
Side note. loving the format of these short stories being from a new character’s/third party’s perspective. Originally, I wondered how effective that would be. And apparently the answer is, very.
Honestly, I was a little disappointed with this one. But you say, “You gave it 4 stars!” Yes, yes I did. Here’s the thing. I LOVED Obsidian and Onyx. I mean, LOVED THEM. I obsessed over them. Read and re-read them. So, I think maybe my standards were too high on this one. Don’t get me wrong, it was still an incredibly enjoyable read. It still made me sigh happy sighs and hope happy hopes but it just lacked that certain zing that I’ve grown accustomed to in the Lux series. So, overall, an enjoyable read, however I didn’t feel it lived up to the full potential of what could have been.
