“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine.
A Darkness Strange & Lovely
by Susan Dennard
Expected Publication: July 23, 2013
Following an all-out battle with the walking Dead, the Spirit Hunters have fled Philadelphia, leaving Eleanor alone to cope with the devastating aftermath. But there’s more trouble ahead—the evil necromancer Marcus has returned, and his diabolical advances have Eleanor escaping to Paris to seek the help of Joseph, Jie, and the infuriatingly handsome Daniel once again. When she arrives, however, she finds a whole new darkness lurking in this City of Light. As harrowing events unfold, Eleanor is forced to make a deadly decision that will mean life or death for everyone.
Ok. I haven’t actually read Something Strange and Deadly yet (starting it today), but I feel like it’s a book where I’m going to definitely be jonesin’ for the sequel. Plus, look at that cover. Just look at it. The actual hardcover of Something Strange and Deadly is just gorgeous with delicate silver filigree, and if this book is anything like that one, I must have the shiny.
Compelling reasoning, eh? <wink> But seriously I love period books and I’m starting to really love zombies, so… yeah. I’m waiting on it…
Fragments
by Dan Wells
Expected Publication: Feb. 12, 2013
Kira Walker has found the cure for RM, but the battle for the survival of humans and Partials is just beginning. Kira has left East Meadow in a desperate search for clues to who she is. That the Partials themselves hold the cure for RM in their blood cannot be a coincidence–it must be part of a larger plan, a plan that involves Kira, a plan that could save both races. Her companions are Afa Demoux, an unhinged drifter and former employee of ParaGen, and Samm and Heron, the Partials who betrayed her and saved her life, the only ones who know her secret. But can she trust them?
Meanwhile, back on Long Island, what’s left of humanity is gearing up for war with the Partials, and Marcus knows his only hope is to delay them until Kira returns. But Kira’s journey will take her deep into the overgrown wasteland of postapocalyptic America, and Kira and Marcus both will discover that their greatest enemy may be one they didn’t even know existed.
The second installment in the pulse-pounding Partials saga is the story of the eleventh hour of humanity’s time on Earth, a journey deep into places unknown to discover the means–and even more important, a reason–for our survival.
I am so excited to see what happens next in this amazing world or partials and humans and viruses and cures and Samm! ;o) It will be amazing to be in this world again! So… what are you looking forward to this Wednesday?
I’m anxious for the sequel to Something Strange..nice picks!
Dani – I have yet to read any zombie books. I feel like there are not for me, but perhaps I should give this one a try.
Heather – I’ve seen this book pop up a lot recently and I still can’t decided if I’m going to read it. This may be one I try to find at the library or borrow from a friend.
