Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in. It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for. . “I knew my heart weren’t never to sure ’bout many things, but if I ever could, I wanted to be sure for Rob. That way when his heart stumbled, I could be sure for the both of us.” . ~38%, Scarlet by A. C. Gaughen . . . .
I was insanely indecisive this week…leading to 4 teasers. Sigh. “Bono met his wife in high school,” Park says. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, ELEANOR AND PARK is the story of two star-crossed misfits – smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love – and just how hard it pulled you under. . . “It made sense that Tina was in Eleanor’s gym class–because gym was an extension of hell, and Tina was definitely a demon. A weird, miniature demon. Like a toy demon. Or a teacup. And she had a whole gang of lesser demons, all dressed inn matching gym suits.“ . ~6%, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell . . “Eleanor had known only one Asian person in her life–Paul, who was in her math class at her old school. Paul was Chinese. His parents had moved to Omaha to get away from the Chinese government. (Which seemed like an extreme choice. Like they’d looked at the globe and said, ‘Yup, That’s as far away as possible.’)“ . ~15%, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell . . “DeNice and the other girl, the big girl, Beebi, talked to Eleanor now in gym. (Because being assaulted with maxi pads is a great way to win friends and influence people.)” . ~18%, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell . “Her mouth kind of looked like the Joker’s–depending on who was drawing him–really wide and curvy. Not psychotic obviously…Park should never tell her this. It definitely didn’t sound like a compliment.” . ~24%, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell . . Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined. Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan’s life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home. When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she’s known is about to change. But she could never have guessed the truth – that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she’ll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart. “Your personal loyalty is your breaking point, and your enemies will certainly use it against you. That is your weakness, princess. That is the most dangerous aspect in your life.” “So what?” I challenged, pulling the quilt tighter around myself. “All you’re telling me is I won’t betray my friends or family. If that’s a weakness, it’s one I want.” ~p. 231, The Iron King by Julie Kagawa . . ~p. 236, The Iron King by Julie Kagawa . . What are you reading this week?
“So did Jerry Lee Lewis,” Eleanor answers.
“I’m not kidding,” he says.
“You should be,” she says, “we’re sixteen.”
“What about Romeo and Juliet?”
“Shallow, confused, then dead.”
”I love you,” Park says.
“Wherefore art thou,” Eleanor answers.
“I’m not kidding,” he says.
“You should be.”
Nice choices!
Thanks =)

Great teasers! Eleanor & Park sounds perfect for me. And I love The Iron Fey series. Thanks for sharing!
Eleanor & Park was really good. I enjoyed it a lot. Be prepared for it to be a bit heavier than it looks from the cover. =)
Great teasers! Eleanor & Park seems like a book right up my alley, I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing and stopping by mine!
It was really good. Be prepared that it’s heavier than it appears though. 😉
LOVE that teaser from Scarlet! I’m starting to think that Dani and I have very similar taste. Gosh, that really makes me want to read Scarlet now. Yay for Teaser Tuesdays!
Yay! Yes, Dani has very, VERY rarely steered me wrong. I can think of two books that she’s suggested that I didn’t like. That’s pretty awesome. She’s got some seriously good taste in books!
Love the Scarlet teaser and LOVE the quote about weakness from The Iron King. I still need to start that series. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by my post!

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for returning the visit!
Great teasers!
The one about Paul amused me–I’m Asian myself.
Awesome! Side note: Park is also Asian (half-Korean actually) in Eleanor & Park, which I thought was cool since you don’t often see that done. It was refreshing. It was a great book! =)
